XS Innovations

XS Innovations is a medical‑device startup (spin‑out of Leiden University Medical Center & Delft University of Technology) that develops an implantable vascular access solution for patients undergoing hemodialysis: the “Dynamic AVF”.

Their device works by opening the artery‑vein connection only during dialysis sessions — avoiding the constantly high and turbulent blood flow typical for traditional arteriovenous fistulas. By doing so, they aim to drastically reduce complications associated with vascular access (such as aneurysms, heart stress, access failure), improving safety and quality of life for patients with end‑stage kidney disease.
